GOOGLE Docs offers students an excellent opportunity to collaborate on written work. This essay was written by a group of four students. The students worked together to come up with a thesis statement, and they chose parts of the essay to write. At home they wrote their part of the essay in the Google Doc and the next night they commented on one another's writing, suggesting changes (sometimes extensive). The final product is seen here. Google offers other great collaborative tools, my favorite being the Google Hangout where people can write ideas on a screen shot or record their comments on a YouTube video in real time.
