ONE of the more intriguing thought-problems I've done as a teacher is to try to predict how education will function in the future. I predict radical changes that will virtually do away with schools as we know them--at least for the top 5% of students:

 

Here are the top four changes of the future, as I see it:

 

1. To a large extent, education for education’s sake will disappear.

2. All classes will be “elective” classes.

3. A good percentage of top-achieving students will attend private schools funded by big money with students working as apprentices.

4. The top students will be creative problem solvers, not linear thinkers.
